ISLAMABAD:
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology on Thursday discussed the Electronic Transactions Amendment Bill 2026 but decided to defer it for further consultation.
Officials from the Ministry of IT told the committee that additional discussion and stakeholder input were needed before moving forward. Acting on the ministry’s recommendation, the committee postponed deliberation on the bill to its next session.
The decision reflects a cautious approach to ensure that all technical, legal, and regulatory aspects of electronic transactions are carefully considered before the bill is finalized.
