Apple Inc. Unveils Budget-Friendly iPhone 17e with A19 Chip, Starting at $599

Apple has introduced its most affordable iPhone of the year, the iPhone 17e, positioning it as a lower-cost alternative within the flagship lineup while retaining several premium features.

The device carries the new A19 processor — the same chip powering the standard iPhone 17 series — promising faster performance and improved AI processing capabilities. However, the handset features a slightly smaller 6.1-inch OLED display and retains the older notch design instead of the newer Dynamic Island interface.

Apple said the A19 chip delivers enhanced speed and efficiency, particularly for artificial intelligence tasks, while the in-house C1X modem is designed to improve connectivity and internet speeds. The phone runs on iOS 26 and supports Apple Intelligence features.

On the durability front, the iPhone 17e is equipped with Ceramic Shield 2 protection, which the company claims offers improved resistance against accidental drops.

Photography capabilities include a single 48-megapixel rear camera capable of 4K video recording, alongside enhanced portrait features. A 12-megapixel front camera supports Face ID authentication.

Notably, the device adds MagSafe support — absent in the previous “e” model — enabling faster wireless charging. Additional features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, water and dust resistance, satellite connectivity, and eSIM support.

The iPhone 17e will be available in Black, White and a new Soft Pink color option. Pricing starts at $599 for the 256GB variant, while the 512GB model is priced at $799. Global sales are set to begin on March 11.

Industry observers say the launch reflects Apple’s strategy to broaden access to its ecosystem while maintaining high-end performance standards in a competitive global smartphone market.
