AI and Analytics Lead Marketing Skills Surge in 2026: LinkedIn

New data released by LinkedIn shows that artificial intelligence literacy and performance analysis are emerging as the fastest-growing marketing skills in 2026, reflecting a sharp shift in how companies hire and how professionals build their careers.

The platform’s latest skills analysis combines profile data with hiring success rates, offering a dual-layered view of both what marketers are learning and what employers are actively rewarding in recruitment decisions.

Performance analysis ranked as the top marketing skill this year, underscoring the sector’s growing reliance on data-driven strategy. Companies are increasingly prioritising professionals who can measure campaign effectiveness, interpret metrics and optimise performance based on evidence rather than intuition.

AI literacy followed closely, highlighting the expanding role of artificial intelligence in marketing workflows. From prompt engineering and data annotation to AI-powered campaign optimisation, employers are seeking candidates who can effectively integrate emerging technologies into business strategy.

Social media branding secured the third position, while community engagement also featured prominently. The findings indicate that despite automation gains, businesses continue to value marketers who can build authentic brand identities and foster meaningful digital relationships.

LinkedIn noted that career pathways are evolving rapidly, with traditional degree-based progression giving way to “new-collar” roles focused on adaptable and hybrid skills. Employers, the report said, are placing greater emphasis on capabilities over credentials.

The research also outlines regional variations across the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, India and Australia, reflecting differing market demands.

To support professional upskilling, LinkedIn announced that related courses on LinkedIn Learning will be available free of charge until March 23, enabling marketers to align their expertise with the most in-demand competencies shaping the industry in 2026.
